About Me.
In 1997 I started a garden center called The Garden Gate, which was located at a Sears store in Pompano Beach. For 21 years, I became the go-to place for gardening needs, including native plants, aquatic plants, herbs, fruit trees and so much more.
Unfortunately, in 2018 Sears went out of business and I was forced to close.
Fortunately, because I am a Master Gardener Volunteer with the University of Florida, I heard about a job opening at the UF/IFAS Extension office.
I was hired as their Education/Training Specialist in commercial horticulture, and it was there that I increased my own education by becoming an ISA Certified Arborist with TRAQ and PPQ, a Senior GI-BMP Instructor, a LIAF Certified Landscape Inspector and Pro Blogger.
8 years later, as I retire from UF/IFAS, I plan to spend time volunteering, consulting, camping with my husband.... and of course, working in my Food Forest.
I love to write and teach about nature, trees and native plants. I also enjoy making things, crafting, cooking, reading, and I hope to include these endeavors in my blogging.
